FPL Price Change Predictor: How the New Official Tool Works
Fantasy Premier League has announced an official Price Change Predictor for 2026/27. It will use official FPL transfer activity to show which players are moving towards a price rise or fall.
If you cannot find it yet, nothing is wrong. Player prices are locked until the Gameweek 1 deadline on 21 August 2026 at 18:30 BST, and the predictor page will become available after that deadline.
The feature was announced by the Premier League on 21 July 2026. It is new this season, which is why managers familiar with third-party price-change sites may not have seen it before.

What is the official FPL Price Change Predictor?
The predictor is a new page on the Fantasy website that tracks progress towards the next player-price change.
It will show every player's current progress towards a rise or drop as a percentage. FPL says the data will update every 15 minutes and use official transfer activity.
After an initial calibration period, the page will also show a predicted progress percentage. Labels such as “Very Likely to Rise” and “Likely to Drop” will translate the data into a quicker status.
This is the first time managers will have an official FPL tool dedicated to predicting price changes. Third-party services have estimated changes for years, but they have had to infer the unpublished thresholds from player ownership and observed changes.
When does the FPL Price Change Predictor go live?
The predictor will appear after the Gameweek 1 deadline on 21 August 2026 at 18:30 BST.
Until then, all player prices are locked. Managers can make unlimited changes to their initial squads without anybody increasing or decreasing in price.
FPL says price changes will happen at 00:00 UK time during the season. The predictor's percentages are intended to show who is approaching the next change at that daily update.
Where will the predictor appear?
The main predictor page will list all players and can be filtered to show:
- players in your team;
- players on your watchlist; or
- the full player pool.
Price-change status will also appear on individual player profiles. FPL plans to add a price-change view to the Pick Team and Transfers screens, so managers can check their own squad without moving to the full table.
The combination makes the feature more than a single leaderboard. It should become part of the normal transfer workflow once price changes begin.
What does a percentage over 100 mean?
According to the Premier League, anything above 100 per cent indicates that the player is expected to pass the rise or fall threshold at the next 00:00 UK update.
It still does not guarantee a change.
For example, a player could display 105 per cent shortly before midnight, then receive enough late transfers in the opposite direction to move back below the estimated threshold. FPL explicitly describes the predictor as a guide.
Treat the status as evidence for timing a move, not a promise that the price will change.
How often is the FPL predictor updated?
FPL says the page will update every 15 minutes.
That should make it useful near the daily price-change deadline, but the number can move in either direction as managers continue buying and selling players. A stale screenshot or an update from earlier in the day may no longer represent the current position.
The most important limitation remains the same: predicted progress is not the only factor in a good transfer.
Should you make an early transfer to avoid a price rise?
Sometimes, but price protection has a cost.
An early transfer can secure a player before a rise and preserve team value. It also exposes your squad to injuries, rotation news and other information that arrives before the next deadline.
Before moving early, consider:
- whether the player is likely to start;
- whether either club has another match before the FPL deadline;
- how much the possible price change affects your planned move;
- whether you would still want the player at the higher price; and
- whether you have a free transfer or would take a points hit.
A predicted rise can make the timing urgent, but it does not make the underlying transfer good. Decide on the player first, then use the predictor to decide whether waiting is worth the risk.
Official predictor versus third-party price-change sites
The official tool has one major advantage: it is built from official FPL transfer data and integrated into the game.
That does not necessarily make every independent tool redundant. Third-party services can still differentiate through:
- notifications before a likely change;
- historical prediction accuracy;
- daily price-change histories;
- combined transfer, fixture and expected-points analysis; and
- alternative views for planning several moves.
FPL has also said its own prediction remains a guide. The value of any predictor should be judged by how clearly it communicates uncertainty and how accurately it performs after calibration.
Does this affect prices before Gameweek 1?
No. FPL prices are locked until the Gameweek 1 deadline. The official predictor will not be visible before then because no player can rise or fall during initial squad selection.
